The Optimist learn to race program (Sailing 301) is well suited for sailors, 14 years old and
younger with at least 4 weeks of sail training and successful completion of Sailing 201-
Intermediate Osprey skills. The coach will continue where the Intermediate program left off.
This group will take racing to the next level by learning to read wind shifts, advanced boat
handling, race tactics, and race starts. The team will travel the bay competing in regattas against
sailors from other yacht clubs and sailing centers in the Green Fleet (beginner racing). If your
sailor would like to participate and has sailed less than 4 weeks, please let the summer camp
director know of your interest. BCSC may hold pre-season clinics to help sailors get comfortable
before camp starts and those clinics will help less experienced sailors get up to speed.

Sailing 401 is a more advanced version of Sailing 301 for sailors who have moved beyond the
Green Fleet. Both Sailing 301/401 are offered as a 4-week program with the option for
additional 2-week sessions in the second half of the summer. Sailors can either bring their own
Opti or charter from BCSC.

2 weeks cost: $1200 50% deposit required at time of registration)  (June 19th- July 14th ((no camp on 7/4)).

4 weeks Cost: $1,900 (50% deposit required at time of registration)  (June 19th- July 14th ((no camp on 7/4)).
